Our Story
How it all started
From a biochemistry lab in Houston to a life full of Penny, good coffee, and new places to explore—this is the path that brought us here.

Chapter 01 - 2015
Lab partners, then something more
We met as biochemistry lab partners at the University of Houston. We still disagree about who invited whom into the lab group, but we became friends over a semester of studying and helping each other through the material. At the end of the semester, we met up for drinks in Montrose and, before we knew it, spent almost ten hours together, ending the night at a late-night coffee shop. It was our first date.

Chapter 02 - 2015 to 2019
Learning what love looks like
The years after that first date were mostly unremarkable but in the best way: late dinners, bad jokes, long drives, one more episode of Game of Thrones. On a trip to Spain in 2017, one of us got sick during a long train ride. It was not glamorous or romantic, but somewhere in that mess we figured out that we are good at taking care of each other and that whatever came next, we wanted to do it together.

Chapter 03 - 2020
Making a home with Penny
We moved to Dallas together for graduate school, and during COVID, what began as a temporary foster became Penny—our favorite foster fail and the center of our home. Since then, we've filled our life with good coffee, cooking foods inspired by the places we visit, and planning the next adventure. Spain, Germany, Japan, and India are only a few of the places we've explored together.

Chapter 04 - 2025
A clear day in Juneau
July 2025: rain for days, except for the last. Down by the water, he took out a page he had written for her. She knew before he finished reading it. She said yes. The plan had gone sideways in almost every possible way, but we got our perfect day.

Chapter 05 - 2026
Our next adventure, as life partners
More than a decade after we met, we are still excited by the life ahead: more places to see, more foods to try, and a home full of Penny, good coffee, and the people we love. We are so grateful to everyone who has been part of our story—and especially to those who have traveled to celebrate this next chapter with us.
